Lefkara is one of the island’s most popular villages for tourists, and for good reason. Perched on the mountains on Larnaca district, it is a picturesque village best known for its production of lace and silver, where you will see local craftswomen embroidering on the streets outside their shops. Take your time and wander through the cobbled backstreets, and make sure to visit the interesting museum.
Combine the trip to Lefkara with a stop off at the Golden Donkeys farm in Skarinou, a local sanctuary for the beloved donkey that also has a small cultural centre too. Also nearby is the breathtaking Stavrovouni Monastery – women are not permitted inside the monastery but it’s still worth the drive up the twisting hillside for the view at the top and the monastery is gorgeous too!
